Teacher Appreciation Week is just around the corner and we all have favorite teachers that we truly appreciate!  Why not give them their favorite things? It’s probably no secret that teachers love pens. All pens! With all of the assessments, planning, and meeting notes we take, teachers more than appreciate a good pen. It’s a downright necessity. This teacher gift idea is easy to make, fun, AND functional!
I used Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Pens which are my go-to pens for assessing.  I like a smooth-writing pen when I’m rapidly check marking off words as my students are reading.  Plus, all the fun colors make it easy to color code my assessments by quarter.
To make this easy gift download the templates further down in this post. You’ll also need:
- Â Paper Mate InkJoy Gel Pens
- 3 colors of construction paper or scrapbook paper
- 1 background paper
- an Elmer’s Re-Stick glue stick
- tape
- 10″ strip of green ribbon for each pen used
Cut one of your papers into a 5″ x 10″ rectangle for the background. Print the flowers, circles, and pot templates on scrapbook or construction paper and trim. I used 3 pen flowers but you can use more if you wish.
Glue the centers onto the flowers. Using a small, rolled piece of tape, stick the flowers onto the tops of the pens.  I used a tiny drop of hot glue but tape works well too.  Add a green bow under the clip of each pen.
To put together the flowers I used Elmer’s Re-Stick glue stick.  They work really well when you need to reposition pieces before they dry. Like trying to get a circle centered on a flower. Ha!
Glue the sides only of the flower pot about a half inch above the bottom of your background paper. Give it a little curve to accommodate the pens.
Add the pens and that’s it!
