Teaching vocabulary is more fun with these shades of meaning activities! Get a full week of engaging, no-prep shades of meaning activities, practice worksheets, PowerPoint minilessons, task cards, reading passage, and an assessment all in one resource! Students learn to distinguish intensity of meaning among closely related verbs and adjectives. Students discuss the small but important differences between the strength of a word’s meaning and then apply the skill in their writing. This unit includes short, daily practice to teach shades of meaning in a variety of formats.
Short on time to teach grammar? This simple 5-day routine allows you to teach, practice or assess your students in 15 minutes or less each day. The daily routine includes whole group practice as well as fun partner activities.
The easy to grade worksheet is ideal for additional practice, morning work, or homework. An engaging reading passage in the form of a newspaper story written by kid reporters, gives students the opportunity to replace and order vocabulary words by the strength of their meanings.
