100th Day Activities for 2nd grade and 3rd Grade

February 15 By Linda 8 Comments

100th day of school activities for second and third grade.

Planning 100th day activities for second and third graders has always been a dilemma for me. I want my students to celebrate the day, but with activities that aren’t too young for them. I wanted to find ways for my class my to work with hundreds rather than counting to 100. So I came up with math, reading, and writing activities, based around one hundred, that are not only fun but give my students practice working with and within 100. If you’re looking for 100th day activities for your second or third graders read on! We did a lot of fun things with reading, writing, and math that of course included 100th day swag!

100th Day Activities for Math

To have my students add and subtract within one hundred, I made these word problem cards for students to use known strategies to add and subtract within and from 100.  I set these games up as stations and students rotated through all the various activities.

The digital version is ideal for a technology or math center activity.

Another math activity my class really enjoyed was determining the value of a pizza.  They used a key to add the values of the ingredients then find the total value of the whole pizza!

Students cut apart the boxes on their recording sheets then stapled on this cover to make a booklet.

With self-checking answers, the digital version is a fun math center activity for students to do independently.

Before I Am 100

Since we’re working hard this time of year on identifying (and remembering) parts of speech, we made these fun Before I Am 100 flip books.

Students write all of the people they would like to meet, places they want to go, and things they want to do before they are 100 years old.

We also made individual booklets with these easy labels.  Students folded a piece of construction paper in half, glued on the label, and wrote 100 words inside each book.  These made for a fun thing to keep in their desks and add to as they finished other work throughout the week.

100th Day Self Portraits

What would a 100th Day celebration be without imagining yourself at 100 years old?

There are so many opportunities for vocabulary building with this writing project and it’s makes a fun January bulletin board too. See how we made these centenarian self portraits.

Celebrate with Swag!

Of course I couldn’t let the 100th day of school go by without handing out some serious swag! I gave my students water bottles, bracelets, brag tags book marks and certificates.  Celebratory swag is my favorite!

      Hi Priscilla,
Thanks so much for subscribing! I’ve just sent you the 100th Day class book. Did you by chance sign up in the pop up window rather than in the form in the 100th day of school post? If so, that will lead you to the Data Folders download. No worries either way as the book should be in your inbox now. I hope your class enjoys it and thanks again for subscribing!
