Whew! Made it through that first nine weeks! The end of the quarter
always means district benchmark testing for us and
since Halloween is right around the corner
I decided to do some test prep, Halloween-style!
We used a lot of the activities in my FrankenLine Number Line Math Centers
for some spooky strategy review!
My kids LOVE The Monster Mash song so we had that playing
in the background while we worked!
Our first graders don’t do any online testing so when they get to second grade
it takes quite a bit of practice to not only login to the computer,
but then find and login to the testing sites with a completely different
username and password.
Yikes! Trying to help 27 six and seven year olds
get logged in can get a little crazy to say the least!
Here’s my simple solution and it works like a charm!
Everybody has a computer stick with the first login on one side and the second on the other side.
Since their password is their student ID (which is also their lunch number…
seriously, could it get any more confusing?)
I also use these to help students
remember it in the cafeteria at the beginning of the year.
(Actually, I use these for lots of other things too, so stay tuned
I’ll post about that soon.)
Before we go to the computer lab to take our test I give everybody
some Smartwater! Just enough to make them smart
but NOT enough to make them have to use the restroom
during the middle of the test that we have 75 minutes to complete
42 questions after 20 minutes of logging in and I have to read it to them and
we all have to all stay on the same question! Whew!
My kids LOVE this little ritual and one of my kiddos was so
worried when he had to do a makeup test with another teacher that
he wouldn’t have Smartwater! We took care of that and he
had his little cup in hand as he headed down the hall!
My class comes in to these on their desks but
can’t eat them until AFTER the test when they’ve done their best!
While I was at it …
I made this little freebie with 5 spooky tags for your
students, staff, teammates and teacher friends!
I’ll leave you with this! I love these so I made
this one and sent a little Monday morning pick me up to all
my teacher friends at school. Totally describes
our first nine weeks..ha!

Linda, this is adorable! Great idea!! Thanks for sharing. =)

Ha Ha! I tell my kiddos that we have company coming and we need to keep our house clean! They have to keep their room (desk) clean, too! They think that's hysterical and are pretty good about keeping everything up! Have fun with your Frankie centers!
Linda
It's definitely a big challenge the first time around since our kids have so little computer skills at this age. Logging on to use AR regularly is a huge help! Thankfully, they do much better with it by the time Q2 benchmarks roll around! It's pretty stressful for all concerned though, especially since part of our evals last year were based on their scores! That changed this year, thank goodness!
I hope your kiddos have fun with Frank and you're pretty rockin' yourself, my sweet friend!
Linda
I'm so glad you found something you can use! What would we do without inspiration and ideas from our teacher friends!?
Rachel Lamb
Linda, this is awesome! Plus your room is totally clean…ugh! My kids would love the smartwater! Can't wait to use my frankie number line centers this week!

Wow Linda! You have to do your benchmarks on the computer?? We do them with pencil and paper, still intimidating but we don't have a time limit.
We are doing your Frankenline activities this upcoming week and I can't wait to use everything 🙂 You rock!
On my way to pin your awesome freebie:)
