It’s Apple Pickin’ Time!

September 20 By Linda Kamp 47 Comments

Apple season means Fall and all of it’s activities are just around the corner! Fall also means no more blazing heat,
the endless beginning of the year testing is done, and my class is getting into a routine!
Here’s a little peek at some of our apple adventures!

We’ve been working with adverbs and collective nouns and made these bushel basket booklets.
Inside we explained what a collective noun is then compared it to a proper noun.

You can find this collective nouns grammar craft HERE
We also made these little apples to hang on our apple tree!

These are some of our apple adverbs.  Identifying an adverb has been really tricky for
some of my kiddos.
We used Christina Bainbridge’s Hunting for Adverbs Classroom Hunt
as a literacy center, which my kiddos loved, and was a HUGE help!

Since we’ve been learning about the properties of matter in science, we had some
crackers with our apples!

I’ve had a ton of requests for this cracker lab sheet, but unfortunately I only had a hard copy.

Have you seen these? They’re Scrabble tile Cheez-Its! How fun is that?
We used them this week to practice our spelling words!

Well, this was a short week for me! Hence the lack of pictures.
Our oldest moved out of state this summer and is home for a visit!
I wanted to spend every minute I could with him while he was home so I took
not one, but TWO days off! GASP! It’s the first time in 6 years I’ve used
a personal day. Saving up days is much easier when your own children are older
but it’s really just a sign of
how much I REALLY would rather do just about anything but don’t like planning for a sub! Ha!

You can find a lot more *Apple Love* and see last
year’s apple adventures {HERE}

I’m linking up with Doodle Bug’s Teaching for some Five For Friday so be sure to
head over and check it out!

Happy Apple Season, friends!

These bushels are the cutest! Love your bulletin board! I saw those Cheez-It's at the store and wanted to pick them up for something, but couldn't think of what to do with them. Now you've given me some ideas 🙂 Thanks for sharing Linda!

      Linda-

Looks like you had a fun and productive week. I really like the Properties of Matter Cracker lab. Great idea. I'm off to the store this morning to look for the Cheez-It Scrabble Crackers.

I am so excited for you with your visit with from your son. My youngest son just moved to Olympia Washington and I can't wait for his first visit.

You're welcome! We do Fall centers on Halloween instead of a party and I was thinking I'd use these for a "How many fall words can you make?" type game, too. I'll share the printables I make to go with it if you'd like!
